School mediation in Cherkasy region

Oksana Chervyakova from Zolotonosha, Cherkasy region, works at the city office in the affairs of children, youth and sports, as well she is a trainer of "Democracy school" programme. Oksana took part in job shadowing at the Civis Polonus Foundation (Warsaw, Poland). As a youth worker, Oksana works with the city's schools, and schools-members of the "Democratic School" programme. The gained experience she is trying to realise in Zolotonosha and in programme in total. The project "Networking of school mediation services" was initiated in the educational institutions, which are participating in "Democracy school" programme of Cherkasy region, in a response to a need of creation of effective mechanisms for resolving and preventing conflicts. Part of it was the training of school mediators and adults - the leaders of mediation services. In some schools, the work of school mediation services just started and in some - is only planned. However, the trainings will help to overcome the lack of a systematic vision on how these services can develop and operate, as well as a role of pupils and adults in distribution of responsibilities for implemented work.
